September 2013 Work Party

Ahh... I guess we had a good run with the weather didn't we? No complaints. The fall weather has definately now come upon us. Sorry to have missed the September work party. Thank you Ellen for capturing these fabulous images from the day. Still lots to do in the garden - but it now requires gumboots and warm sweaters!!

Saturday, September 14th - Hands-On Seed Saving Workshop (free)

All are welcome to this free two-hour workshop coming up soon at our community garden -

Saturday, September 14th.

The public is invited along with all our garden members.

It will be a great opportunity to learn from a seed saving expert -

David Catzel from Glorious Organics Cooperative in Aldergrove.

2nd Inaugural 2013 Kits Garden Plant Sale - huge success!

Well, that was fun. The 2nd inaugural 2013 Kitsilano Community Garden Plant Sale. There were so many peeps that contributed to making this year's sale so successful. We added a significant amount to the garden coffers through our efforts - and exceeded last year's total profits! Besides the end goal of fund raising the great thing was getting to know each other better and having a lot of laughs. Here are a few images from our lovely day that were taken by a few of the plant sale crew. Well done everyone.

Prepping for Saturday's 2nd Annual Plant Sale - this Saturday

'Kay, what else can we dig up?

Please let everyone you know about our Plant Sale on Saturday, August 10th 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. A few of us had lots of fun digging and dividing up plants in the common areas for the plant sale which we hope is well attended! A few images from tonight's prep - didn't get pictures of everyone who helped - but thank you!:

Annual Wonderful Potluck Work-party

It was a great work party where tons of tasks were accomplished that spruced up our beautiful garden. Pruning, weeding, watering and checking out our newest garden member - 'Chip'. Yes, that's right we now have a chipper for improving the quality of our compost which was purchased with some of the funds that were raised courtesy of our local Choices. After all our hard work, came the array of homemade food and goodies including a much discussed 'mystery square' which we all guessed at - apple?, pear?, ??. It turned out to be the ubiquitous zucchini! Yummy. Our local Capers (Whole Foods) also provided two lovely trays of organic fruit and sandwiches.
